Princess Beatrice Praises Her “Misunderstood” Mom Sarah Ferguson: “She Is Just Remarkable”
In a lengthy new interview, Princess Beatrice pays particular attention to the way in which her mother and grandmother have influenced her outlook on life. Speaking with Hello! at the opening of the WE Global Learning Centre in Toronto, the young royal began by providing a rare insight into the incredibly close relationship she shares with her mother, Sarah Ferguson.
“I admire my mother so much because she’s probably one of the most misunderstood women in the world,” she told the publication. “We’ve been through some incredibly stressful times together as a family and every single minute she created joy. I am so lucky that I get to learn from her every single day.”
“I’m inspired by her ability to give, even when she’s going through something hard. Her grandmother always said, ‘When you feel bad about yourself, go out there and do something for somebody else.’ That’s an incredible motto that my family has always lived by. My mother is just remarkable,” Beatrice continued.

She later added, “She’s incredibly real, and she’s my best friend. We talk about everything. Nothing is off the table.” Beatrice, 29, also opened up about her ever-inspiring grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. She revealed that in addition to her mother, the monarch also acts as a guiding light. “I have two role models, my mother, and my grandmother. They are both formidable women,” Beatrice said. “I think having female role models is incredibly important and I am very lucky that I happen to be related to these two incredible women.”
“I find my grandmother inspiring every day because her overwhelming sense of duty is linked with an overwhelming curiosity. Every day she’s curious to learn something new, to do something new and I think that at 91 years old, she goes out into the community with a genuine curiosity as to how she can be a force for good in the world.” She added, “She also looks for ways in which she can inspire communities, and I admire the way that she works so hard.”
Beatrice made headlines earlier this year after it was revealed her ex-boyfriend David Clark had proposed to his new love, Lynn Anderson. The shock announcement came just 10 months after the duo had called it quits. Reports out of the UK confirmed the Uber exec proposed to the stunning blonde, who he’s been dating for just a few months, during a romantic holiday to Lake Como in Italy.
According to Hello!, Lynn shared a photo to her private Instagram account which showed off her sparkler as she kissed Dave on the cheek. “The very best day of my life,” the caption read. But don’t expect Bea to be wallowing in sadness over the news. According to the Daily Mail, the royal is “super happy” for the couple and she might even score an invite to their wedding. “Of course Beatrice was told and she is super happy for Dave. They were friends when they split up and will always remain friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if she is at the wedding,” an insider told the outlet.
The royal split with Dave last July after 10 years together. Insiders at the time confirmed the sad news to Hello!, reporting the pair took a break from their relationship after “make or break” discussions on their future and whether or not they should marry.
