Following Kate and William’s official engagement announcement in 2010, the beloved couple couldn’t have been happier. Besides the fact that there was a highly anticipated royal wedding to look forward to, fans were especially excited because their announcement was the first time admirers would get to see Kate speak in an interview.

“You know, over the years William has looked after me, he’s treated me very well,” the brunette beauty gushed. “As the loving boyfriend he is, he is very supportive of me through the good times and also through the bad times.” Aww!

In their engagement announcement, the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana explained that he “took her up somewhere nice in Kenya” and popped the question, which prompted the sweetest reaction from Kate. “It was very romantic,” the British beauty said of the moment that William got down on one knee. “There’s a true romantic in there!” she adorably quipped.

Not too long after they announced their engagement, Kate and William recalled the moment they first met at St Andrews University in an interview with ITV News.

“Well, I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy about meeting you,” Kate sweetly admitted, reflecting on their first encounter. “Actually William wasn’t there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn’t there for Fresher’s Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other, but we did become very close friends from quite early on.”

Prior to moving into Kensington Palace, the royal couple lived in a tiny cottage in Wales while William was working as a search and rescue pilot for the RAF. In 2016, they attended an event in Anglesey where they recalled the nostalgically reflected on their newlywed days.

“It was such a special time for us,” the duchess said at the time, according to The Telegraph.  “It was the start of our life together really.” So sweet!

While traveling abroad for a trip to Canada — which marked Kate’s first royal visit to the North American country — following their magical and lavish 2011 royal wedding, the mother of three adorably addressed the best part of having William as her forever partner.

“I’m very, very lucky,” the Duchess of Cambridge told former Army Colonel Robert O’Brien, according to People. “He looks after me as much as possible.”
