Awkward! Prince William is apparently a bit jealous of all the media attention his younger brother, Prince Harry, has gotten ever since he started dating his now-wife, Meghan Markle, according to a new report.
The Daily Mail recently published an excerpt from royal biographer Robert Jobson’s new book, Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes, and Dreams, in which the author claims William, 36, and Harry, 34, have a bit of rivalry going on right now.
“[William is] extremely competitive with members of his family when it comes to media coverage,” Jobson wrote, adding that the Duke of Cambridge was especially salty over Harry and Meghan’s royal visit to Cardiff Castle in Wales this past January.
“It was a time of peak interest in the couple. Intriguingly, William — who was also on a royal engagement — chose the same day to display a new and dramatic buzz cut hairstyle. As a result, Harry was not the only royal Prince featured in the following day’s papers,” Jobson wrote of the brothers.
Jobson further suggested that some members of the royal household know William to be “difficult” and “a little grand.” And his father, Prince Charles, allegedly knows his eldest son has jealous moments and is “wary of his mood swings.”
In Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes, and Dreams, Jobson also wrote about Charles’ tumultuous royal marriage to the late Princess Diana and claimed the Prince of Wales “desperately” wanted to get out of tying the knot with Diana before their July 1981 nuptials.
According to the author, the pair only went on a few dates before getting engaged and Charles quickly realized he might not be compatible with Diana but it was too late to turn back. “He would try to talk to her about his work commitments and what kind of day he’d just had — and Diana would stare back at him blankly,” Jobson wrote in the Daily Mail‘s excerpt. “In truth, neither of them was actually in love with the other.”
