Awkward! Prince William Breaks Royal Protocol During Kenya Visit
Hopefully Queen Elizabeth doesn’t see this one! Prince William took a trip to Kenya over the weekend after previously visiting Namibia and Tanzani in Africa, however, he, unfortunately, broke royal protocol during his stay.
On Sunday, Sept. 30, the 36-year-old met with a local soccer team at Kinamba. The coolest part? While there, William met a player with the same name as him while handing out Aston Villa FC jerseys to the squad.

“William meets Prince William — The Duke of Cambridge met his namesake at Kinamba, before presenting him with a @AVFCOfficial shirt #PartOfThePride,” Kensington Palace tweeted alongside a photo of William with his namesake.
The problem, though? He hugged him! Royal protocol states that members of the public are supposed to shake hands with royal family members — not hug them. However, being that William is a dad-of-three, we’re sure he couldn’t resist showing the young boy some love.
William has been making headlines quite a bit during his Africa trip. Just last week while visiting Namibia, he joked about how his wife, Kate Middleton, was jealous of his getaway during a speech.
“I’m delighted to be visiting Namibia for the first time. I’m only sorry that my wife, Catherine, is not able to join me. She is immensely jealous,” he quipped at the British High Commissioner’s reception. “Particularly because I’m looking forward to a few good uninterrupted nights’ sleep this week away from my wonderful children.”
Fortunately for the mom-of-three, though, her jealousy will soon come to an end! Kate, 36, is expected to make her triumphant return to royal life tomorrow, and to be honest, we can’t wait! The Duchess of Cambridge is set to visit the Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden at Paddington Recreation Ground on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Be jealous of that, Will!
