The world was gearing up for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's highly-anticipated royal wedding for months — but the newest member of the monarchy actually took the day and night off. That's right, Prince William and Kate Middleton's third baby, Prince Louis, missed the nuptials for the simple reason that he was just too young to attend!
A Kensington Palace aid told Us Weekly in early May that the decision had been officially made that little Louis will skip the royal wedding while his parents, Kate and William, and older siblings, Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 3, step out at the lavish Windsor Castle event on Saturday, May 19.
While Prince Louis remained at home with the Cambridge family's beloved nanny, Maria Turrion Borrallo, the baby's family members all had special roles in Harry and Meghan's big day. William, 35, served as his Best Man during the wedding. "How did I ask? Got down on one knee. He’s known for months," the red-headed prince told reporters at a recent royal event when they asked how he asked his big brother.
William — who had Harry as his Best Man at his 2011 wedding to Kate — couldn't help but gush about earning the coveted role. "It feels great. I’m thrilled and delighted, obviously. Revenge is sweet. I’ll be looking forward to it," he joked.
As for George and Charlotte, the tots served as a page boy and bridesmaid, respectively, in the royal wedding. Sadly, Kate didn't have an official role in the event (she was just looking after George and Charlotte the whole time!) as Meghan chose not to have a Maid of Honor. Hopefully we'll get to see Prince Louis at Princess Eugenie's wedding!
