Did Prince Harry Shave His Beard for the Royal Wedding? Find out Here!

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot, all eyes are on the bride and the long-awaited reveal of her wedding gown. But there’s one other area royal watchers are also interested in: the groom’s facial hair.

Harry, who served two tours of Afghanistan, is wearing his military uniform for his wedding today, just as his brother, Prince William, did at his 2011 nuptials to Kate Middleton. But army rules dictate that grooms who marry in uniform should, technically, be clean-shaven. “He’s not able to wear his Royal Horse Guards uniform with a beard,” English journalist Hugo Vickers told the Press Association.

But Harry clearly broke that rule! The 33-year-old is sporting a full beard for his royal nuptials today — and we must say, he looks quite handsome!

Believe it or not, the beloved royal has worn a military dress coat in public with a beard before. “He does it sometimes but they don’t like it,” Vickers said, acknowledging that Harry has broken this rule in the past.

Of course, as a member of the royal family — and an individual who is no longer on active duty — a certain amount of flexibility could be afforded to the situation. Some thought the prince would forgo the uniform all together. According to royal correspondent Penny Junor, there was a good chance the young royal would ditch the uniform in an attempt to keep the occasion more low-key, but clearly he did not!

Let’s not forget, too, that Prince Harry has also had a beard throughout his entire relationship with Meghan, so it would have been a little odd if it simply disappeared on the big day. Bookies previously made it just a 10/11 shot that the royal would shave his beard before the big day. Speaking with the Express, Alex Apati of gambling company Ladbrokes said, “It looks as though Harry’s beard will go and the groom will be well groomed ahead of the biggest day of his life.” We’re loving his scruff!
