Harry and Meghan's Wedding Security Will Be Very Intense: "Every Precaution Needs to Be Taken" (REPORT)

The British royal family is doing all they can to ensure Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding is a day to remember — but they're also working to make sure the event is safe for all involved and goes off without a hitch. According to E! News, the couple will have a major security detail on their big day, especially during their carriage ride around Windsor Castle after the ceremony.

"Thousands of people will be working on keeping the family and their fans safe. This is a time to be extremely prudent and sensible. Every precaution needs to be taken," Dai Davies, a former Head of Royal Protection and Chief Superintendent of the Metropolitan Police Service, recently told the entertainment news outlet.

"Windsor is a much harder area to secure than London, which is so much better prepared. In Windsor, there are shops, buildings, houses, you name it and there is a history of people trying to get into Windsor Castle," Davies explained. "The greatest risk comes from those people that we call 'fixated,' i.e., mentally ill people, who could think, for whatever reason, that a white prince shouldn't marry a black woman."

Davies continued, "Clearly, 99 percent of the population are deliriously happy about that but you could get a small right-wing fascist group who may object to it, so that adds to your problem. I don't know how they are going to secure [Windsor] to the level that I would want, but clearly, much wiser people are now doing the job and I'm sure they'll come up with a plan."

Dr. David James, a psychiatrist who previously worked with the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, added that it's important for Harry and Meghan's wedding day security to be "unobtrusive so as not to detract from the celebratory nature of this occasion." He continued, "You can't turn the palaces into prisons. [Prince William] and Harry have grown up with protection all their lives so they are used to this. And for Meghan, well, she has been going out with Harry for quite a while. She's a very bright and intelligent lady so I have no doubt she is taking to all of this like a duck to water."

When William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at London's Westminster Abbey back in 2011, a reported $33 million was spent on safeguarding the royal couple and the event. According to a recent Life & Style report, Harry and Meghan's nuptials will cost around $30 million total, with $25 million of that specifically allocated for security.
