When newly-engaged couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle walk down the aisle in May, the red-headed royal doesn't want the wedding to be anything fancy. According to sources, the 33-year-old desires a less-extravagant ceremony, which is surprising because his life is far from simple.
"Pomp and pageantry is the last thing he would want," a source told Us Weekly before the couple announced their engagement in late November. "I can see him wanting to get married at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. It would stop it from turning into a total media circus and give the day a sense of privacy that Harry so badly craves." And that's exactly what he's going to be doing!
The pair began dating in August 2016, publicly confirmed their relationship in November 2016, and got engaged in early November 2017. And if Harry's wedding is going to be anything like his proposal, it'll be simple and romantic.
During the couple's first official interview as an engaged couple, the duo told the sweet story of when Harry gave Meghan her ring. "It was just a typical night for us," Harry said. Meghan questioned Harry: "What were we doing? Just roasting chicken? Trying to roast a chicken and it was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet and natural and romantic. He got on one knee," she said.
And Meghan couldn't wait to say yes apparently! "She didn’t even let me finish! Then there were hugs and I had the ring on my finger and I was like, 'Can I give you the ring?' So it was a really nice moment it was just the two of us and I think I managed to catch her by surprise as well."

And even though Meghan has been in the public eye more and more since they became official and those private nights will become few and far between, she admitted when they were dating that she and Harry are happy as could be. "It has its challenges, and it comes in waves," she told Vanity Fair. "Some days it can feel more challenging than others. And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and of course, my boyfriend’s support. I can tell you that at the end of the day I think it’s really simple," she added. "We’re two people who are really happy and in love." We can't wait for the special day!
