Even though Prince Charles brings smiles to plenty of royal fans, that wasn’t exactly the case when he crossed paths with little Lenny Williams in Wales.

The 70-year-old and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, visited the city of Swansea on Wednesday, July 3, and met the 8-month-old, who happened to be wearing a cute shirt that read “Little Prince Charming.” However, it certainly seems like the youngster, who had smiled for Charles’ wife just a few minutes earlier, was not about doing it again.

“I’m trying to get a smile out of him,” the Prince of Wales told the baby’s mom, Laura Williams, as she held her son above kids from Christchurch Primary school in Swansea. “I told him he had a lovely smile for your wife!”

It wasn’t all bad news for Charles, as little Larry eventually sneaked a grin in for the royal — all is well! Charles and Camilla visited Swansea in order to celebrate its 50th year as a city — it was handed this status on July 1, 1969. It also coincides with 50 years since Prince William and Prince Harry‘s father became the Prince of Wales.

“Another anniversary I know — celebrating quietly.” Camilla, 71, said, according to PA news agency.

The royal couple has another reason to celebrate too: a new member was recently welcomed into the family, and we’re pretty sure that Charles will be making him smile and laugh plenty of times. In fact, a little bit after Harry, 34, and Meghan Markle‘s first child, Archie, was born, his grandparents toasted to him and danced the night away.

Charles and Camilla were on tour in Germany when little Archie arrived, but they made sure to celebrate even while miles away, as they stopped in Munich and found themselves at the Hofbraeuhaus hall for some beer and entertainment. The prince was also gifted a miniature Lederhosen for his new grandchild while there. Sweet!
