Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are currently expecting baby No. 3, but the longtime lovebirds have had a third child on their minds for a while now! The Lip Sync Battle star and the “All of Me” singer have shared tons of thoughts about expanding their family before announcing their pregnancy on August 13.
Chrissy and John revealed the exciting news when they released John’s new music video for “Wild.” In the romantic video, the Sports Illustrated model and the Grammy winner — who share their older kids, Luna and Miles — unveiled Chrissy’s baby bump as John stood behind her and cradled her belly.
After fans of the pair began freaking out on social media, the Cravings author confirmed the news. Aside from stepping out with her baby bump on full display during a shopping trip with Miles on August 13, Chrissy took to Instagram to marvel over their soon-to-be little one.
“Look at this third baby s—t,” the loving mom — who tied the knot with John in 2013 — said as she rubbed her growing belly. “What the … oh my God.”
Considering Chrissy and John are over the moon about Luna and Miles, there’s no denying they’re more ready than ever to welcome their third baby. But while motherhood has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the former model’s life, Chrissy said it’s also been quite difficult.
In a previous interview with People, Chrissy opened up about her exhausting journey with IVF. The Chrissy’s Court star turned to the process of in vitro fertilization for pregnancies with both Luna in 2016 and Miles in 2018.
“You do the whole process again to try to get as many embryos and eggs as possible,” she shared of artificial insemination. “Everyone is freezing everything and then you make the embryos out of what you freeze and try to make viable perfect embryos.”
The Bring the Funny star says she went through the process of IVF to get the most embryos. The more embryos they had, the better chances that Chrissy and John were able to have a big family.
“For me, I just want to gather as many [embryos] as possible. I don’t want to do this again for the rest of my life,” she explained. “So it’d be nice to get a great batch of beautiful, perfect embryos and keep trying so we did it again.”
While John and Chrissy have had baby fever for some time now, the “Love Me Now” singer insisted their third pregnancy was quite the surprise. “We don’t plan these things,” he explained to ET following their announcement, noting that could change in the future. “We haven’t planned them right now, but we’ll see what happens. You spend enough time together, you never know.”
