After working with the royal household for ten years, Paul Burrell knows more than most about how the senior members of the family operate. And in a recent interview with Now To Love, the former royal butler has sensationally claimed Prince Charles will never be King. Plus, he opened up about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s family plans, their upcoming royal wedding and what Prince William and Kate Middleton will name their third child. Scroll down to read Paul’s royal predictions!

Charles will never be King

The wheels are already in motion with Queen Elizabeth handing over several important roles to her firstborn son, Prince Charles, to prepare him for his future role as King. But Paul believes the monarchy is set to get a major shake-up when the Queen passes away. “It’s a very controversial prediction but we will never see Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles sit on the throne of England. Watch that space,” the 59-year-old stated.

Paul continued, “Why? Because when the Queen dies, and she’ll be a hundred and something, she will never abdicate. When she dies, I think Charles will do the right thing and say, ‘I’m far too old for this responsibility.'” Paul added, “And wouldn’t the world and the Commonwealth much prefer a younger King and Queen — the beautiful Kate and William? I think that is the way forward for the royal family.”

Harry is the People’s Prince

While the palace would never comment on a possible abdication from Prince Charles, Paul also speculated that while Prince William and Duchess Kate will be fast-tracked to the top job, Prince Harry is becoming just as influential as his late mother, Princess Diana. “Harry is becoming the People’s Prince. He can do things which his brother can never do, because his brother is destined to be King with his wife Kate beside him,” Paul said. “You shouldn’t be surprised that in Harry’s mind, everything revolves around his mother. His mother, who the royal family tried to erase. Those boys were taken back into the royal family and his mother’s name was not allowed to be mentioned,” he claimed.

Over the weekend, Kensington Palace announced that Harry and Meghan will invite up to 2,640 people, including members of the public and those working with their beloved charities, to their May 19 wedding at Windsor Castle. Paul revealed he’s not surprised by this gesture and it echoes the same generous and inclusive spirit that Princess Diana embodied. “Now they’re gown up, they intend to honor their mother in different ways. I’m not surprised Meghan and Harry are inviting people from their charities to the wedding,” the father-of-two noted.

“Harry, above William really, will finish his mother’s work. So watch that space and watch those two, they’ll be coming to Australia very soon [for the Invictus Games].” Paul, who rose to fame as Princess Diana’s butler and best friend after working for the Princess of Wales from 1987 until her death ten years later, also thinks Meghan and Harry will start a family this year.

“I believe that they will start a family as soon as possible! Harry also wants a large family and wants children as quickly as possible,” Paul gushed. “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have mixed-race babies within the royal family? It’s the way forward to bring this royal family into this century.”

William and Kate’s third baby will be a boy

As for the upcoming third royal baby— who is reportedly due on April 23 — Paul doesn’t hesitate to say he thinks it will be a boy. And he’s got two regal titles picked for William and Kate’s new prince. “Albert, because William’s grandfather was Albert. Although he took the name George for the throne and was always called Bertie in the royal family,” Paul revealed of the Queen’s late father, King George VI.

“I can see William and Kate with a little Bertie. Or Arthur! Arthur or Albert — watch this space,” Paul said. Paul also thinks they won’t stop at three children. “There will be one more! There’ll be four, they want four and there’ll be four babies for William and Kate. Just like the Queen, there was a gap between her [two kids] but William and Kate are running out of time, so they better get on with it!”

Diana would have loved Meghan

It’s been 20 years since Princess Diana’s death and there’s so much she missed out on today. Most tragically, the Princess of Wales was robbed of watching her sons William and Harry grow up. Frozen in time forever, the brothers were only 15 and 12 when they lost their mother. And now her youngest son, Harry, is all grown up and set to marry the woman of his dreams, Meghan. According to Paul, Diana would have “embraced Meghan wholeheartedly.” He continued, “Meghan is everything that she would have chosen for Harry… a mature woman, knows her mind, knows the way forward. She’s not a silly girl. She’s a professional woman who will shape Harry.”

Fergie will be invited to the royal wedding

With the royal wedding just two months away, all eyes are on the guest list and who will make the cut. One guest of interest is Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. Setting the record straight on the recent contradictory reports — one minute Fergie is invited, the next she’s not — Paul shared his thoughts. “I think she will be [invited]! I think she will be embraced by Harry,” he explained. “Harry knew how important Fergie was to his mother and I know that he would want to honor his mother’s wishes. Fergie will be at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.”
