Oprah Winfrey Reveals Her Worst Interview Guests Ever

She’s getting candid! Oprah Winfrey is known as the queen of media and she’s interviewed countless guests on her long-running talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show, but she has also had her fair share of guests who just really got on her nerves. She dished about some of the worst guests she’s ever interviewed while promoting her new book The Wisdom of Sundays: Life-Changing Insights from Super Soul Conversations on Harry Connick Jr.‘s daytime talk show Harry.

“Well, I mean, the worst kind of guest — you’ve had this, too — is when you ask them a question and they start talking about 1975, and then you think, ‘Oh, we are in 2017. How long is it going to take us to get to 2017?’ That’s the worst,” the 63-year-old told Harry. “The other worst guests, for me, are those who think whatever they are talking about is so spectacular, and you know it’s not. So, my go-to word was always, ‘Wow.’ Like, ‘Wow! Really?'”

But now it’s Oprah’s turn to be the interviewee. In her new book, Oprah has compiled excerpts from some of her favorite conversations with some of the most thought-provoking leaders in the world — from Arianna Huffington to Shonda Rhimes. But one thing that Oprah didn’t do during her interview with Harry is oversell her book, like one of her previous guests!

“I had a guest on who was a lawyer — I can’t remember the show — and he mentioned the book 29 times. That’s after I started counting,” she says. “Every sentence started. ‘In my book, in my book, and if you buy my book,’ and so finally, around the third segment, I said, ‘We all know the name of the book. Audience, tell him the name of the book…so you don’t have to say the name of the book anymore.’ After that, we started having conversations. Our intention was to tell the people, ‘You don’t have to sell your book. I will mention the book. I will take care of the book.'”

Dennis from Forsyth County, Ga.: NOW

Back in 2011, Oprah invited Dennis back to her show. He confessed that his 1987 remarks had left a blight on his reputation. "I would see [people] in the stores and they would go to the next aisle to keep from having to speak to me," he told her. Although he apologized to Oprah for his remarks, he still stood by the majority of what he said.

Peyton Kramp: NOW

Shortly after the airing of the episode, Erin lost her battle to cancer. Oprah checked back in with the Kramp family twice since Erin's death, the most recent being in 2011.

Peyton made her first appearance at age 13, where she told Oprah she watched her mother's tapes all the time. She's now all grown up and is a Strategy Associate at an agency.
