Normani Kordei Confirms She’s Injured Ahead of the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 24 Finale

She’s making a comeback!

A few days ago, TMZ reported Dancing With the Stars frontrunner Normani Kordei had been injured ahead of the Season 24 finale — and now, the Fifth Harmony star is speaking out about her recovery for the first time!

“My ankle is actually fine. It looked really bad. I saw the video back, but luckily I can push through anything and I’m dancing on it,” the 20-year-old told [Entertainment Tonight](http://www.etonline.com/news/218039normanikordeidishesonankleinjuryaheadofdwtsfinalsicanpushthroughanything/)_ on Monday, May 22.

“It was an ignorant injury on my behalf. We attempted a move that we’ve never done before, and it didn’t pay off, clearly,” Normani continued, referring to her pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy.

“I literally [just] did a toe touch. It’s like me walking down the street and I roll my ankle,” she said of her injury. “[It] wasn’t like, a lift or anything.”

Normani and Val, 31, are currently in first place and expected to take home the Mirror Ball Trophy on Tuesday, May 23, especially following Simone Biles’ surprise elimination last week.

The singer has become a fan-favorite on the popular dancing competition this season — and has even opened up about some of her emotional life experiences while on the show, specifically cyber bullying.

“I got bullied, terribly, on social media. I did an interview and it got taken out of context completely… people were calling me the N-word, it was really ugly,” Normani previously told her pro partner in rehearsal footage.

“Every time I went online it was, ‘How much we hate you. How talentless you are.’ They actually made images of me being whipped, beaten, hung… I shouldn’t want to change the color of my skin or the texture of my hair or the fact that I’m a woman. I felt really alone and just like everybody hated me,” she continued.

“We all want to be loved. We all want to be accepted. And when that doesn’t happen, it just breaks you,” Normani added on DWTS. “And I think in the process I just because a super guarded person… at the end of the day I have to be me, and I want to be able to look in the mirror and say, ‘I’m proud of that person and I love who you are.'”
