She is one of the most recognizable actress’ in the world and has been in plenty of classic films, but Nicole Kidman always makes it a point to check in with her family before taking on any role.

The 52-year-old — who is married to country singer Keith Urban — recently sat-down with British GQ to touch on many things, more importantly, her loved ones. “The only thing we really discuss is what it is going to cost our family,” the A-lister said referring to what she thinks of before accepting a new role. “If it’s going to be too taxing on our children or him, I won’t do it.”

The power couple share two daughters — Sunday, 11, and Faith, 8. It’s pretty clear that family is everything to the Moulin Rouge star, and she also understands just how much her man, 51, is there for her — the former American Idol judge always wants to be involved in her projects and helps to “boost her esteem” when she needs it.

“He’ll sit on the phone and talk to me. He’ll watch episodes [of Big Little Lies] … I take none of that for granted,” Nicole told the outlet, adding that “It’s an incredible balm to have.” The Aquaman costar has always been open about how important her family is to her — she once revealed what is one thing she does with them after every event.

“I go home to hug my kids. Literally, I’ll go in and snuggle them,” Nicole told InStyle. “They’ll always be waiting up. I’ll hug my husband too. The greatest thing our family priest told us very early on in our marriage was, ‘Always kiss hello and kiss goodbye.’ It just keeps you connected.”

“We’re just a very close family. We put the time in, and there’s no taking that for granted,” the Hollywood star added. “I’m constantly learning from them. They teach me about me. Parenting is about learning who they are, not making them what you want them to be, and letting them find their way and then supporting them.” So great!

It’s incredible to see just how much Nicole involves her family into her career decisions!
