Always on her mind. Nicole Kidman paid tribute to her late father, Antony Kidman, on what would’ve been his 81st birthday. In honor of her dad’s special day, the Australian-American actress took to Instagram and shared a heartwarming tribute along with a photo of her handsome father.

“Today would have been my papa’s 81st birthday,” the 52-year-old gushed in the caption on Wednesday, December 11. “I love and remember him every day.” In the throwback photo she shared (which you can see here), Nicole and Antony — who tragically passed away after suffering a fatal fall in Singapore in September 2014 — can be seen showing off their beaming smiles as they posed for the snapshot.

Fans, friends and even fellow actors flooded the Aquaman actress’ comment section with words of encouragement and love. “Such a sweet photo. Sending lots of love, Nicole … he would be so proud of you,” one fan wrote, while another echoed, “I’m so sorry. I lost my dad too. It’s a loss like no other when you lose your parents. Sending hugs.” Gwyneth Paltrow even sent her condolences as she simply commented a single broken-heart emoji.

Each year since Antony’s tragic death in September 2014, Nicole has paid tribute to her father’s memory. As fans remember, the Big Little Lies star’s proud papa died over five years ago while visiting Nicole’s younger sister, Antonia Kidman, in Singapore. According to NBC, the Golden Globe winner’s psychologist father passed away at a hospital due to an “unnatural death” — which Singapore often refers to as falls or other accidents.

Since her father’s untimely passing, Nicole has candidly opened up about him in a handful of interviews. Most recently, the Eyes Wide Shut actress — who is the proud mom of daughters Sunday, 11, Faith, 8, with husband Keith Urban, and also shares Isabella, 26, and Connor, 24, with ex-husband Tom Cruise — opened up to Tatler about how she picked herself back up following the loss of her father.

“[Faith] said, ‘But you’re not going to be sad like this tomorrow, are you?’ That’s when you realize, you know, you have to be OK,” she explained to the outlet in an interview for her January cover story. “Because they need to know that they’re safe, that their mother isn’t going to fall apart.” She added, “Inside? I was beyond shattered. But I had to rally.”

The iconic movie star even admitted that suffering through the grief of losing her beloved father has ultimately changed her outlook on life. “I jumped into life. Let’s go on a plane. Let’s try things. Let’s go for it. Because who knows, right?” she gushed. “I was never going to do theatre again. I didn’t think my heart could handle the adrenaline and the fear.”

Nicole is such an amazing daughter.
