She may be one of the most acclaimed actresses in Hollywood, but Nicole Kidman recently admitted that not everyone is a fan of her parenting techniques. In a candid new interview, the Big Little Lies star opened up about how internet trolls have labeled her “unpopular” for the way she raises her kids.

“They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram,” the 51-year-old beauty — who is the mom to daughters Sunday, 10, and Faith, 8, with husband Keith Urban — explained to Vanity Fair for the magazine’s May cover story. “I try to keep some sort of boundaries.”

Since her daughters with Keith, also 51, are still young, the Destroyer actress — who is also the mom to daughter Isabella Jane Cruise, 36, and son Connor Cruise, 24, from a previous relationship with ex-husband Tom Cruise — sometimes struggles trying to juggle her family life and professional career.

Part of what makes her job as a mom and actress easier is being able to unwind for a few days. “We live in Nashville, not Los Angeles, and we live there for a reason,” she revealed earlier this year. “I like the peacefulness — being able to step into the celebrity life for a moment when I need to, and then back out to all the real day-to-day things.”

Being able to escape the glitz and glamour of Hollywood for a few days isn’t just great for Nicole, but it’s great for her family, too. “We have periods at home where we don’t turn on the TV and try to have a detox from it all,” she revealed to The Guardian in December 2018.

“I can recommend that to anyone. Like everyone, I worry about all the anger that seems to be around. What do you do? In our case, we have some land and some animals,” she explained. “I left home yesterday and my children were up in the tree house, with eight friends over. We have a no-devices house. Their friends can’t bring devices over. The general rule is: play, hard core and outside.”

We think Nicole is one of the best mamas out there!
