Actor Neil Patrick Harris and his partner of 10 years, David Burtka, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 6.

The How I Met Your Mother star confirmed the happy news via Twitter:

The Italian ceremony was officiated by the couple's close friend and HIMYM director, Pam Fryman. The duo's twins, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott, 3, also took part in the wedding festivities and Sir Elton John was on hand to perform at the reception.

When New York legalized gay marriage in 2011, the long-time partners were thrilled to start planning their big day. "It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!!" Neil tweeted at the time. "David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."

But the 41-year-old's busy work schedule, which included shooting the final seasons of his sitcom and a Tony-winning performance in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," further delayed the wedding. Luckily, the pair have finally found time to make it official!

Congrats to the newlyweds!
