Congratulations are in order! Just a few days after Neil Diamond revealed he’s sadly battling Parkinson’s disease, the singer was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 Grammys. Although it wasn’t televised tonight, it’s been said that there will be a special presentation ceremony and concert honoring all the recipients sometime this summer. We can’t wait to watch!

Neil has surprisingly only won one Grammy in his career, Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media
for “Jonathan Livingston Seagull,” but the 77-year-old is known for his hit tunes including “Sweet Caroline,” “America,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” and more.

Neil wasn’t the only star to take home the coveted award. The well-known band Queen and Tina Turner were also among the winners, as was Emmylou Harris, Louis Jordan, and The Meters. Tina is most known for her hits “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Let’s Stay Together,” “I Can’t Stand the Rain,” and more. She’s also won eight Grammys throughout her career. Queen has never won a Grammy believe it or not, but became famous off songs including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Are the Champions,” and “We Will Rock You.”

The recording academy president and CEO Neil Portnow opened up about this year’s recipients in a previous statement. “This year’s Special Merit Awards recipients are a prestigious group of diverse and influential creators who have crafted or contributed to some of the most distinctive recordings in music history,” he said. “These exceptionally inspiring figures are being honored as legendary performers, creative architects, and technical visionaries. Their outstanding accomplishments and passion for their craft have created a timeless legacy.” We’re so happy for all the winners!
