We’ll miss you, Morley Safer!

The 84-year-old TV is retiring from 60 Minutes after appearing on 46 seasons of the hit show, CBS News announced on Wednesday, May 11.

“After more than 50 years of broadcasting on CBS News and 60 Minutes I have decided to retire. It’s been a wonderful run, but the time has come to say goodbye to all of my friends at CBS and the dozens of people who kept me on the air. But most of all I thank the millions of people who have been loyal to our broadcast,” Morley said in a statement.

Morley first appeared on 60 Minutes as a correspondent in 1970. His final report on the news program aired in March. Following his retirement, CBS will honor Morley with a special titled, Morley Safer: A Reporter’s Life, which will be broadcast on Sunday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
