Carrie Underwood’s Husband Mike Fisher Is Returning to the NHL and She Couldn’t Be Prouder!

She's so proud of her man! The NHL announced on Wednesday, Jan. 31 that center Mike Fisher will be coming out of retirement to return to the Nashville Predators — and his wife, Carrie Underwood, is fully supportive of the decision! Just a short while after the announcement was made, the country music star took to Twitter to express her happiness. Check out the tweet below!

"It always kind of bugged me when guys came out of retirement. I didn't really think it was a possibility," Mike recently said during a press conference in Nashville. "I just thought about the opportunity. How good this team is. About the run last year, and what could be. I got a blessing from family and my wife. Carrie asked me every few days if I was going to do it. She wanted me to do it. And she's usually right," he added. So sweet!

“In retirement, I have enjoyed it… and everyone misses the game, there’s no question, you miss lots of different parts of it,” the 37-year-old continued. “The closer I got toward having some of these conversations, the more you start thinking about the opportunity and how much fun it would be… That was never the plan all along, for me to come back, but the more I thought and prayed about it and went through the whole emotions of kind of revisiting retiring again, the more I knew it was something I wanted to do.”

Mike announced his retirement back in August 2017 after playing 17 seasons in the NHL. He started his career in 1999 with the Ottawa Senators before joining the Nashville Predators in 2011. It's with them that he eventually ended his career — and with them that he's now rekindling it!

When the NHL star first announced his short-lived retirement, Carrie was right there supporting him, as always. The mom-of-one shared a sweetest message on Instagram, saying, "Captain @MFisher1212 I sure am going to miss watching you play and cheering you on with the rest of Smashville, but I so look forward to seeing what God has in store for you in this next chapter of your life." It looks like both Carrie and the couple's soon-to-be three-year-old son Isaiah are going to have more cheering to do in the near-future!

Mike and Carrie previously tied the knot in July 2010 and welcomed their son in February 2015. "My husband is as wonderful as he is hot, and I feel like that's rare," Carrie gushed to E! News back in 2016. "He's amazing. He's such a great dad and he's so supportive of what I do and I'm supportive of him and we just love our little family." Aww! It's going to be so nice to see Carrie back in the stands cheering on the hockey player as he makes his return to the NHL!
