In the years following Heath Ledger's tragic death, his girlfriend Michelle Williams had to make one very tough decision — to sell the house they once shared together.
"At that time, I was inconsolable, because I felt, How will he be able to find us?" the 36-year-old actress told WSJ Magazine in its newest issue.
"This is where we lived, and he won’t know where we are. And now I can't believe I thought that," Michelle continued. "Maybe that’s what’s making me cry is I feel sad for the person who thought he won’t be able to locate [us]."

The former couple — who began dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of Brokeback Mountain — lived in a six-bedroom, Brooklyn, NY home with their daughter, Matilda Ledger, who was born in October 2005. Michelle later sold the house in 2014 for $8.8 million.
Heath sadly died at age 28 in January 2008 after an accidental drug overdose. The couple's daughter — who is now 11-years-old — was just three at the time of her famous dad's passing.
Since Heath's death, Michelle has dated several other Hollywood stars including actor Jason Segal and director Spike Jonze. But, the Manchester by the Sea star claims it's "hard to romanticize romance" at her age.

"When you’ve been a parent for 11 years and you’ve done it alone, you don’t have romantic ideals, because you have a practical understanding that you can do it by yourself," she said.
"The romantic idea of meeting your person and having a storybook family life that looks like the model you grew up with — that doesn’t really exist for me," Michelle continued. "I’ve not gotten married because I have not had a person to whom I would — so I have not let my sense of conformity or duty override my instincts."
