There were lots of funny red carpet anecdotes shared by stars at the 2019 SAG Awards, but we think Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones‘ story takes the cake! Before the annual awards show began, the couple chatted with reporters and Michael, 74, hilariously recalled giving Catherine, 49, a weird request when they first started dating.

“When we first got together, I asked her to tap dance in our bathroom on the tile floor,” he joked and Catherine added, “That was limited because the marble got a bit scratched up!”

The Chicago actress noted that she now has a dance studio in their home and even though Michael doesn’t “put on the dance shoes too often, he likes to watch me tap dance every now and again!” How sweet!

“I watch her tap dance, anywhere and any place,” Michael gushed. “I love to!” Though Michael didn’t take home a SAG award during the Sunday, January 27 show, he and Catherine could probably win a trophy for Hollywood’s most adorable couple! When he won a 2019 Golden Globe for playing Sandy Kominsky in Netflix’s The Kominsky Method just a few weeks ago, he gave his wife an adorable shout-out in a backstage interview following his win.

“It was great for her to be here tonight,” he said. “And besides the genuine love that only continues to grow, I think the fact that we’re in the same industry really helps us to understand what is going on.”

During Michael’s onstage acceptance speech, he also talked about how happy Catherine and his three kids have made him over the years. “I flashed back to the time when she was pregnant with our daughter in Chicago and for all the shows growing up,” he told the audience. “The joy of my marriage with Catherine and having our children at a point in my life where my career hadn’t developed, allowed me much more time to enjoy my family.” Awww!
