One day before Michael Strahan was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, the public learned of his split from long-time fiancée Nicole Murphy. But the 42-year-old reportedly had no idea the announcement was coming.
Although the pair broke off their engagement several weeks ago, Michael wanted to keep it quiet until his big day passed, but it appears Nicole had other plans.
According to TMZ, friends of the former New York Giants star believe either his ex or someone close to her was trying to sabotage his impressive milestone.
But even though his weekend got off to a rocky start, Michael's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame went off without a hitch on Aug. 2.
The Live! with Kelly and Michael host first began dating Nicole (ex-wife of Eddie Murphy) in 2007 and the father-of-four proposed two years later.
A spokesperson for the athlete said of the couple's split: "They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship."
Michael's blossoming TV career has certainly kept him busy. Along with his co-hosting responsibilities on Live!, he accepted a part-time role with Good Morning America and continues to co-anchor Fox NFL Sunday in LA on the weekends.
