He’s played heartless characters like Wall Street‘s Gordon Gekko, but when Michael Douglas gets around his first grandchild, Lua, he turns into a big mush.

“She softens him up,” Lua’s dad, Cameron Douglas, exclusively reveals to Closer Weekly about dad Michael, 75, in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now. “It’s cute to see.”

Lua — who turns 2 on December 18 — even “calls him ‘Bubba,’ and he likes to sit her on his chest and tries to get her to say it,” Cameron, 40, adds.

If Lua has any bigger fan out there, it would most certainly be the baby’s great-grandfather Kirk Douglas.

“I bring my daughter over to see him every weekend, and I’m teaching her to swim at his house,” Cameron continues. “They have a beautiful connection. She lights him up and vice versa.”

While most of Michael and Kirk’s movies are too adult for Lua to see in the near future, Cameron does have a few ideas in mind for what he can show the precious tyke.

“My father just did a voice for Green Eggs and Ham, so I think Lua will totally love that,” he notes. “Then maybe my grandfather’s film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

We shouldn’t be too surprised at Michael being a doting grandfather. After all, he opened up about what he is most thankful for after surviving stage IV throat cancer in 2010 and it, of course, is family.

“Meeting [wife] Catherine [Zeta-Jones] was extraordinary,” The Kominsky Method star told Closer this fall, “and my family has been a really important part of my life. I’ve been very fortunate.”

Aside from being a loving husband, Michael is dad to Cameron — whom he shares with ex-wife Diandra Luker — as well as son Dylan, 19, and daughter Carys, 16 — whom he shares with Catherine, 50.

“Kindness is not weakness,” Michael told Closer when asked about the most important lesson he has learned in life. “I try to conduct myself as a good citizen of the planet and look out for those who are less fortunate.”
