Meryl Streep is one of the most celebrated actresses of her generation.
But despite all of her success, the Oscar-winner's 'Into the Woods' costar Tammy Blanchard says Meryl, 65, is still just a Jersey girl at heart.

“We all went out and Meryl said to me, ‘Where are you from?’” Tammy — a Bayonne, N.J. native — said at the movie’s Ziegfeld premiere on Monday, Dec. 8.
To which Streep replied, “ ‘I knew I loved you for some reason, I’m from Newark!’ She’s a down-to-earth Jersey girl and you can still see it," Tammy, 37, said.

Meryl was born in Summit, N.J., and was raised in Bernardsville, N.Y., after earning a degree in drama from Vassar College and a Masters of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama, the aspiring young actress returned to her home state to appear in theater productions.
Since then, Meryl has won three Academy Awards, eight Golden Globe statuettes and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She is one of only six actors who have won three or more competitive Academy Awards for acting.
