Awkward!Melissa Joan Hart Slammed for Complaining Family Vacation Was Ruined by Hurricane Maria
This is so cringeworthy. Melissa Joan Hart is being slammed online this week after complaining that her family vacation was ruined because of Hurricane Maria. In the since-deleted Instagram and Twitter posts, the 41-year-old actress lamented that herself, her husband, Mark Wilkerson, and their three young sons would have to postpone their trip to Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
Hurricane Maria is a Category 4 tropical storm that made landfall in Puerto Rico on Wednesday, Sept. 20 and is now threatening the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Leeward Islands, and the Dominican Republic. CNN has reported 14 people have been pronounced dead because of the storm and three million people are currently living without power in Puerto Rico. Before Melissa deleted her message about the storm, many people were quick to criticize the actress for being insensitive. “I think you should be more concerned with the people that live there instead of your meaningless vacation,” one person wrote on Twitter. However, several others came to the mom-of-three’s defense. “Calm down, people, she can be a caring person and disappointed at the same time. It’s called being human,” one fan commented.
Though Melissa has not addressed her vacation post, she has since taken to social media to share kind words about those affected by recent natural disasters. “My prayers are with my friends in #Mexico after these devastating earthquakes!” she wrote in one post with another reading, “My thoughts are with all my friends in Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands that are being hit by #HurricaneMaria today.” We’re sure Melissa has learned her lesson about complaining online after this awkward gaffe!
