Ain’t nothing like spending some quality time with your daughter! On Monday, July 30, Melanie Griffith popped up on her daughter Dakota Johnson while the 29-year-old was shooting her new movie, Covers, on Catalina Island in California.

The mom of three showed up on set looking very inconspicuous in an all-black outfit while carrying a medium-sized cup of iced coffee in her hands. Dakota, on the other hand, wore a bright purple top with a pair of ripped jeans and was also spotted sipping on a nice cup of coffee.

Just like her mom, Dakota made her own way in Hollywood by taking on roles that challenged her skills as an actress. She’s mostly known for playing Anastasia Steele in the 50 Shades franchise and as Amelia Ritter in the 2010 box-office hit The Social Network. But despite all of her success, Dakota still doesn’t think of herself as a celebrity.

“No one wants to say that they want to be famous, nobody wants to sound like they like being famous, nobody wants to sound ungrateful, nobody wants to sound like they’re in denial,” she explained in a previous interview with Vogue. “But then I’m like, am I even a famous person? Because I imagine that those are people who other people are constantly staring at, which isn’t me. Who gets photographed every day? Brad [Pitt] and Angelina [Jolie]? But they don’t, because I’m fairly certain that they’ve built underground tunnels everywhere, and that’s how they get around.”

Some may argue that Dakota and her mom are indeed famous. After all, who could forget Melanie’s portrayal as Tess McGill in Working Girl and as Charlotte Haze in 1997’s Lolita?! Both of these roles were so iconic!

“In my profession you have to be very strong within yourself in order to block out the rejection and block out the opinions and the commentary that happens,” Melanie previously explained to Elle about working in Hollywood. “If you allow other perceptions of you to affect you then you’re going to end up going into a hole.”

You can say that again!
