Mel Gibson is a new dad — again!
The 61-year-old actor welcomed Baby No. 9, a son named Lars Gergard Gibson, with his girlfriend of two years, Rosalind Ross, 26, in LA on Friday, Jan. 20, his rep confirmed to People.
“They’re thrilled and Lars is adorable. Their family is all around them and Mel is over the moon. They’re home and everybody is healthy and happy!” a source told the entertainment news outlet on Monday, Jan. 23.
Mel and Rosalind — a former champion equestrian vaulter, writer and actress — began dating in 2014. The couple previously confirmed they were expecting their first child together in September 2016.

“Mel and Rose are so excited about the baby,” a close friend of the duo told People at the time of their pregnancy announcement last fall.

“Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can’t wait to be parents together,” the insider added. “The last two years have been some of his happiest years he’s ever had.”
The pair were last photographed together in public at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 8, where Rosalind showed off her growing baby bump in a stunning silver dress.

Mel is already a father to eight older kids. The Oscar winner has seven children — daughter Hannah Gibson, 36, and sons Christian Gibson, 34, Edward Gibson, 34, William Gibson, 31, Louis Gibson, 28, Milo Gibson, 26, and Thomas Gibson, 17 — with his ex-wife, Robyn Moore Gibson, whom he was married to from 1980 until 2011.

He also has a seven-year-old daughter, Lucia Gibson, from a previous relationship with singer-songwriter Oksana Grigorieva.
Mel isn’t the only celebrity in recent months to have added to his family at an older age. In May 2016, actor Eddie Murphy, 55, similarly welcomed Baby No. 9, a daughter named Izzy Oona Murphy, and rocker Mick Jagger, 73, had his eighth child, son Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger, last December.
