Though Megyn Kelly recently teased she’ll soon be returning to TV following her October 2018 Today departure, a source close to the 48-year-old star just exclusively revealed to Closer Weekly that Megyn’s “options are very limited” for her small screen comeback.

Third Hour Of ‘Today’ Is ‘Still Very Up In The Air’ After NBC Names Megyn Kelly’s Replacements (Exclusive)

“Megyn may have gotten a sweet exit from NBC [with] her $69 million contract intact, but she still has no firm job offer. She says we’ll be seeing her back on TV shortly, but her options are very limited. Everyone is excited and wants to know what her plan is, she’s definitely working on something, but it’s still a mystery,” the insider told Closer.

After leaving Fox News in early 2017, Megyn’s NBC show, Megyn Kelly Today, premiered in September of that same year. Throughout her time at Today, the mom-of-three was rumored to be feuding with her co-hosts, struggled with awkward interview snafus, and experienced lower-than-expected ratings. Her role with the network officially ended after she questioned why blackface Halloween costumes are “racist” during an on-air discussion in October 2018.

If Ratings Tell The Story, NBC’s ‘Today’ Is Better Off Without Megyn Kelly

“Megyn would love to turn back time and have everyone forget the last year she had. Her arrival at NBC, the blackface comment, clashing with Matt Lauer and her other colleagues,” the source said. “It was a year of highs and many lows, but mainly one that she would like to forget.”

“The problem is that no one, especially network executives, can forget her dismal year and the baggage she brought with her,” the insider continued, adding that Megyn is “concerned that no other network will give her a shot” with a new job. According to the source, the TV star would love for her next move to be with a cable network, HBO or Showtime and similar to her past gig with Fox News. “Anchoring her own evening show, that would be ideal. She was really winning then, she had respect and ratings. She was at the top of her game. That’s what Megyn is looking for. She does best solo, with no bubbly morning co-hosts cramping her style,” the insider shared.
