Just days after Tamron Hall's surprise exit from Today, a new report claims Megyn Kelly may take over Savannah Guthrie's position on the show.
Insiders told [Page Six](http://pagesix.com/2017/02/02/megyn-kelly-expected-to-take-top-today-spot-alongside-lauer/?ga=1.12548919.2092917881.1484999754)_ that Megyn, 46, will likely have the lead anchor role alongside Matt Lauer on Today come fall. Savannah — who recently signed a "long-term deal" to stay on the hit morning show — could be bumped to the 9 a.m. hour, which was previously hosted by Tamron.
"NBC is not paying Megyn $12 to $15 million a year to be on at 9 a.m. The word is that Savannah could take the 9 a.m. slot and Megyn will go right in at 7 a.m.," a source told the entertainment news outlet.

"There’s no way Megyn would have signed with NBC unless she was promised a big role down the line," the insider added.
According to a network insider, Savannah has been kept in the dark about Megyn's new Today role. "If you’re Savannah, you’re looking over your shoulder every minute," the source revealed. "The first time Savannah is out, Megyn will fill in, sitting next to Matt Lauer and NBC will go to great lengths to capitalize on it."

"It doesn’t make sense to pay Megyn that kind of money unless she’s on at 7 a.m.," another source said.
Earlier this year, Megyn announced she was leaving Fox News to instead join the Today team. Then, just weeks later on Feb. 1, Tamron, 46, revealed her abrupt exit, leading many people to think Megyn's addition to the show was to blame for her departure.
"The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful," Tamron said in a message released by the network. "I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you."
