Big changes may be coming to the Today show in 2017.
Just days after is was announced that Megyn Kelly is leaving Fox News to instead join the rival NBC News team, a new report suggests the journalist is also being groomed to replace anchor Savannah Guthrie on Today.
“There is a rumor on set that Megyn would eventually get the lead anchor role on Today, pushing Savannah out,” a source revealed to Page Six.

After she decided to leave Fox, the 46-year-old TV star reportedly chatted with ABC and CNN, but ultimately chose NBC as her next network when she was offered both a daytime show slot and a Sunday night program.
Savannah, 45, recently exited Today to start her maternity leave. She gave birth to her second child, baby boy Charley, with her husband, Mike Feldman, on Dec. 8, 2016. The couple — who tied the knot in 2014 — also have a two-year-old daughter, Vale.
When asked about Megyn possibly replacing Savannah on Today, a high-level NBC source told Page Six, “We just signed Savannah to a massive deal that is longer than Megyn’s. A lead anchor role at Today isn’t part of the conversation for Megyn.”
“The goal was simply to get someone of Megyn’s talent and caliber through the door at NBC. We have not made a decision on her daytime slot. It is being discussed,” the insider added.
Savannah first joined the hit daytime news program in 2011 and became anchor alongside Matt in 2012. Megyn — who is mom to Edward, 7, Yardley, 5, and Thatcher, 3, with husband Douglas Brunt — joined Fox in the mid-2000s.
