Where there’s Megyn Kelly there’s drama, apparently! According to a new report by Page Six, the TV personality “threw a fit” when she learned that NBC offered Katie Couric a co-hosting gig at the Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea next month.

The news outlet reports that when Megyn signed her contract last spring, she made it clear that she couldn’t be forced to cover special events, however, when Matt Lauer was abruptly fired from Today, she thought she’d be NBC’s first pick to host the opening games. However, it clearly it went to Katie, who previously co-anchored with Matt from 1997 until 2006.

“She thought she had it all played out perfectly, by saying ‘no’ before the Matt scandal. [The network was] stupid enough to put in her contract that she could say ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ ” a source told Page Six. “[Megyn] complained to her staff, she complained to her agent, so that [NBC News chairman Andrew Lack] would hear about the fact that she was unhappy, but he didn’t care.” Apparently, Lack thinks she’s “a diva” that’s “not going to be part of the NBC News inner circle.” Ouch…

Another recent report claimed Megyn isn’t even going to the Olympics at all! “This is incredibly embarrassing for Megyn,” an NBC News insider recently told Fox News. “Anybody who’s anybody at NBC goes to the Olympics.” Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, Natalie Morales, Willie Geist, Craig Melvin, Lester Holt, and Dylan Dreyer will all be there from Feb. 9 until Feb. 25.

So why is she staying home? “I sense that NBC feels Megyn could be a lightning rod and distract viewers from the feel-good nature of Olympics coverage,” media analyst Jeff McCall said. Sports Illustrated media guru Richard Deitsch added, “Megyn has as much credentials to go to South Korea as anybody else on the Today show.”

Katie chatted with Closer in a previous exclusive interview and shared that she’d be happy to help out Today while at the Olympics. “I would be happy at times to contribute,” she shared. “I’d certainly pay a visit every now and then if they asked.” This will be Katie’s first time co-hosting the opening ceremonies. “I do think the Olympics are unique in that it transcends politics,” she shared. Good luck, Katie!
