Duchess Meghan Pays Tribute to Fallen Soldiers at the Field of Remembrance With Prince Harry

After what has seemed like a difficult few months for Duchess Meghan, she joined her husband, Prince Harry, to visit the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey in London on Thursday, November 7.

For the annual event, she wore a navy blue coat with a matching fascinator and a pair of leather boots. Plus, Meghan decorated her outfit by wearing an artificial flower, known as the Remembrance Poppy, on the left side of her jacket to pay tribute to the military men and women who died in action.

By placing it on that side of her coat, it symbolizes to the world that she cares for the fallen soldiers because their lives are, quite literally, very close to her heart.

Harry and Meghan were supposed to be at the event with Prince Charles‘ wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, but unfortunately, she wasn’t able make it. Therefore, she asked the royal family’s spokesperson to release a statement about her absence. It read, “The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days,” according to People.

Since Harry and Meghan only attended one ceremony leading up to Remembrance Sunday, it’s possible that Camilla will recover from her “chest infection” in time for the main ceremony this weekend. Her husband is supposed to lay the wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Sunday, November 10, in honor of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

The ceremony is so important that the queen will be joined by many members of her family — including Duchess Kate and Prince William — and being around her kin again will be a great experience for the monarch. She loves being around her family, especially Harry’s wife.

“She’s seeing a more mature, responsible side of Harry, and she’s really impressed with how Meghan’s upped her game,” an insider previously revealed to Us Weekly

The source added that Queen Elizabeth has been happier lately with Meghan around. “People who have known her for a long time say she smiles more and is more relaxed.”

We could definitely see the young couple ruling all of England one day!
