Gotta love a good throwback — especially a royal one! Meghan Markle rang in her 37th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 5 and, to celebrate the special day, the Duchess of Sussex’s friend and former makeup artist posted a fun Instagram video of Meg gobbling up a bunch of raspberries on her fingers long before her days as a member of the royal family. 

“Happiest of birthdays my friend!!” Daniel Martin captioned the cute throwback video of Meghan. In the clip, Prince Harry‘s wife can be seen asking the cameraperson, “Ready?” before quickly plucking eight raspberries perfectly placed on each of her fingers into her mouth. This interestingly isn’t the first time Daniel has publicly spoken out about his long friendship with Meghan. Shortly after Meghan tied the knot with Prince Harry in May, Daniel opened up about doing Meg’s makeup for her lavish royal wedding at Windsor Castle. 

“She didn’t seem nervous. She was very cool. She was regular Meghan. I think we were nervous but we didn’t want to make her nervous so it was very chilled. Of course brides have nerves but if we didn’t put so much expectation on it, it wouldn’t have made her nervous. It was very easy,” Daniel told People. 

At the time, Daniel also recalled asking Meghan what he should call her after she officially became a member of the British royal family. “I asked her that. ‘Do I bow to you? I don’t want to disrespect you, but I’ve known for almost ten years. What’s up?'” She started laughing and she said, ‘I’m always going to be Meg,'” Daniel shared. 

“But next time I see them I will be respectful and know my protocol,” Daniel added. “But Meg is always going to be Meg, that’s how it is!”
