Future duchess Meghan Markle is kind of in limbo right now. She won’t become a member of the royal family until May 2018, which isn’t for another five months, but she’s already shut down her blog, moved out of her Toronto apartment, and said goodbye to her TV show Suits. So what will she be doing to fill her time up until she ties the knot?

Prince Harry’s fiancee is going to spend her time travelling and visiting her friends and family before officially moving in and taking on her official responsibilities at Kensington Palace, the palace tells Entertainment Tonight on Dec. 4.

Of course, Meghan will also have some appearances to attend, like when she visited the Terrence Higgins Trust World AIDS Day charity fair at Nottingham Contemporary on Dec. 1 with her future husband, and when they stopped by Nottingham Academy for their first royal visit. However, Meghan is clearly not expected to be at Harry’s side for every royal event before their wedding, since he went solo to the London Fire Brigade carol service at Westminster Cathedral on Dec. 4.

As for the holidays, The Times reports that Harry has begged his grandmother Queen Elizabeth to allow Meghan to attend their family Christmas celebration at Sandringham. Unfortunately, it sounds like the couple will be forced to spend the holiday apart, as no unwed couples are usually allowed, and even Kate Middleton wasn’t invited when she was engaged to Prince William. Instead, she spent the most wonderful time of the year with her parents. That’s what Meghan is also doing, as TMZ reports that she landed in Los Angeles to spend Christmas with her mom.
