Meghan Markle Just Delivered Her First Public Speech As A Royal — Without Using Notes!

The Duchess of Sussex’s acting background definitely came in handy on Thursday, Sept. 20 when Meghan Markle perfectly delivered her first public speech as a royal at a party celebrating the publication of her new charity cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbook. 

At the special event, Meghan — accompanied by her beloved mom, Doria Ragland, and handsome hubby, Prince Harry  — spoke to guests about creating the cookbook and decribed the project as a “labor of love.”

“Working on this project for the past nine months has been a tremendous labor of love. I just recently moved to London and I felt so immediately embraced by this kitchen — your warmth and kindness, and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one small room how multicultural it was,” Meghan said — without using notes! — in videos captured by ITV’s Chris Ship. 

“On a personal level, I feel so proud to live in this city that can have so much diversity. There’s 12 countries represented in this one group of women. It’s pretty outstanding,” she continued. 

“I said in the foreword that this is more than a cookbook, and what I mean by that is the power of food is more than just the meal itself. It’s the story behind it. When we get to know the story of the recipe, you get to know the person behind it,” Meghan shared. “That’s what we’re talking about in terms of coming together to really engage and talk and to be able to celebrate what connects us rather than what divides us. That, I believe, is the ethos of Together.”

Meghan then sweetly told her gathered guests to start enjoying their food prepared using recipes from the cookbook. “I know some have started eating — as you should, I’m the last one who’d want the food to get cold — so please enjoy a beautiful lunch,” she said. 

Meghan’s first public speech as a royal was beyond perfect but the best part was arguably Harry’s reaction to seeing his wife speak about a project she’s clearly passionate about. At one moment during her talk, Harry, 34, was adorably photographed beaming at his wife while standing next to her mom, Doria. So cute!
