Reactions to Meghan Markle‘s Givenchy by Clare Waight Keller wedding dress have been mixed. While many have praised its chic, elegant design (plus the nods to both British and Old Hollywood fashion) others have been less than complimentary. So, it is unsurprising perhaps that her second wedding dress — the halterneck Stella McCartney number she stepped out in before heading to her evening soiree at Frogmore House — has proved more popular with shoppers.

According to recent data, searches for “white high neck dress” and “white halter neck evening gown” skyrocketed by 185 percent in the UK from the moment that Meghan debuted the style on the steps of Windsor Castle up until midnight on Wednesday, May 23.

“Everything Meghan steps out in at the moment is selling out in a matter of minutes, so it was no surprise to see much of the excitement in the run-up to the royal wedding on Saturday, [May 19] was the speculation over Meghan’s dress,” MyVoucherCodes spokesperson, Louisa Marsden, said. “Her evening dress, custom-made by Stella McCartney, seems to have been a firm favorite out of the two, with many preferring the striking cut and racing online to get their hands on a similar gown themselves.”

Indeed, similar copy-cat styles at Boohoo.com have already sold out, although we’re sure there will be plenty more long white halterneck dresses hitting shelves soon enough!
