Harry and Meghan Reportedly Vacationed With George and Amal Clooney at Their Lake Como House

Some fun in the sun! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly arrived in Italy on Thursday, Aug. 16 for a much-needed relaxing vacation. According to Us Weekly, longtime friends of the royal couple, George Clooney and his wife, Amal Clooney, invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to their house in Lake Como, giving Meghan a perfect place to unwind in the midst of all her family drama. 

“The Clooneys had personally invited Meghan and Harry to their home at the beginning of the summer with an open invitation,” a source recently told the magazine. “George and Amal were so happy to host Meghan and Harry. Harry and George have a special bond and friendship.”

Harry and Meghan were having so much fun on the trip that they reportedly decided to stay for three nights at the Clooneys’ exclusive Italian retreat. “They spent the entire weekend at their home and enjoyed the privacy and security the Clooneys had for them there,” the source explained. The insider added that Harry and Meghan had been “spending most of their summer in their Oxfordshire home” before traveling to Italy. 

George and Amal’s last notable appearance with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was at Harry and Meghan’s May nuptials. Ella and Alexander’s mom and dad were all smiles as they posed for photos outside Windsor Castle on Harry and Meghan’s big day, so it’s no surprise that George and Amal would subsequently invite the royals for an exclusive Italian weekend getaway. 

George and Amal’s invitation couldn’t have come at a better time. In a recent interview with The Sun, Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, accused his daughter’s new royal family of being like a “cult.” He explained, “They are either like Scientologists or the Stepford family. If they hear anybody say anything they just lock the doors. They need to speak up! They are cult-like — like Scientology — because they are secretive.”

For the past couple of weeks, Thomas has done many interviews about his daughter’s new royal life despite Harry’s wishes. “Harry told me that I should never go to the press. That it would end in tears. He said, ‘They will eat you alive.’ He was right,” Thomas previously told The Mail. Hopefully, Meghan and Harry were able to drown out all the drama on their relaxing vacation with the Clooneys!
