Poor Meghan Markle! The royal wedding on Saturday, May 19 was watched by millions, so it was no surprise that Meghan was a little anxious to walk down the aisle to wed Prince Harry.

“She was a nervous wreck the morning of the wedding, but once she got through the vow part, she calmed down,” a source told Us Weekly. “She was happy during the reception and was able to relax.”

Meghan may have been on edge because there was so much drama leading up to the royal nuptials. Just days before the wedding, she had to announce that her father, Thomas Markle Jr., backed out of walking her down the aisle last minute. “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said in a statement at the time. “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”

Luckily for Meghan, everything could not have gone better that day. From Prince Charles walking her down the aisle, to the super fun reception, to her touching speech. And even though Meghan’s life has drastically changed now that she’s married to a Prince (that’s the nerve-racking part, if you ask us!), she still won’t forget her roots.

Her wedding makeup artist, Daniel Martin, recently told the sweet story of how Meghan still wants to be called her name. “I asked her that. ‘Do I bow to you? I don’t want to disrespect you, but I’ve known for almost ten years. What’s up?'” he recalled. “She started laughing and she said, ‘I’m always going to be Meg. Meg.'” Aww! “But next time I see them I will be respectful and know my protocol. But Meg is always going to be Meg, that’s how it is!”
