Now that the royal wedding is over, Meghan Markle is shifting her attention to another major project: house-hunting for her mother, Doria Ragland. The new Duchess of Sussex wants her mom to make the move from LA to London so she can be close to her, her husband, Prince Harry, and her future grandkids.

“They’re best friends,” a source recently told In Touch. “Meghan hates being apart from her mother and wants her to be close by, especially once she and Harry have kids. It’s important for her children to have a close relationship with their grandmother.”

While Meghan, 36, has already started looking in nearby Kensington and Chelsea, Doria could end up even closer. “She may even move into the palace,” the source added. This shouldn’t come as a huge shock to royal spectators, given Meghan’s close relationship with the yoga instructor.

“My mom’s a yoga instructor, but she does social work, as well, and she works specifically with the geriatric community,” Meghan wrote about her mother in a 2017 essay for Glamour magazine. “For me to watch this level of life-long sensitivity to nurturing and caregiving, but at the same time my mom has always been a free spirit. She’s got dreadlocks and a nose ring. She just ran the LA Marathon. We can just have so much fun together, and yet, I’ll still find so much solace in her support. That duality coexists the same way it would in a best friend.”

A move could also mean more tea times in the future for Doria and Queen Elizabeth. It was reported that meeting the monarch was one of the highlights of Doria’s wedding weekend. “Doria is saying the biggest highlight of the wedding, of course after watching her daughter say ‘I do’ to the man she loves, was meeting the queen,” a source told Us Weekly. “It would have been extremely intimidating for anyone, but Meghan and Harry really did a marvelous job of preparing her [with] what to expect.”
