It seems Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton may have swapped style ideas when it came to their wedding dresses! Meghan flaunted her gown during her wedding on Saturday, May 19, and we couldn’t help but compare the stunning number to that of Kate’s back in April 2011. Scroll down to learn their differences and similarities!

They were both long sleeve

It makes sense that both women wore long sleeves on their wedding day, especially since it’s typical for a royal to “cover up.” Also, many royal brides in the past have worn long sleeve dresses. We think it’s so classy and elegant!

They both had very long trains

Just like Kate’s dress, Meghan’s dress was made even more dramatic with its extremely long train. Kate’s was 8.85 feet long. We think Meghan’s may have been a little bit shorter than Kate’s, however.

They were both accompanied by gorgeous veils

Both Kate and Meghan stole the show with their stunning veils that on their wedding days. The best part? Both of their veils were adorned with memorable flowers. However, Meghan’s veil was way longer than Kate’s — 16 feet to be exact! Kate opted for a shorter veil on her wedding day.

They were made of different material

Kate’s dress was made out of all handmade lace, but Meghan decided to leave the lace out of her dress. “Following extensive research by Ms. Waight Keller in fabric mills throughout Europe, an exclusive double bonded silk cady was developed. Perfect for the round sculptural look required, the silk cady has a soft matt lustre whilst the bonding process and pure white colour chosen by Ms. Markle and Ms. Waight Keller bring a fresh modernity to the dress,” Kensington Palace said of the fabric for Meghan’s dress.

They were designed by different people

Kate’s dress was designed by Alexander McQueen, and Meghan’s dress was deisgned by Claire Waight Keller, who is the first female designer of Givenchy.

They were both gorgeous

Despite the similarities and differences in both gowns, they are both absolutely stunning — and both Meghan and Kate looked beautiful at their respective nuptials!
