If you miss some of Meghan Markle‘s more outlandish fashion from when she was just a Suits actress and not a Duchess-to-be, give her some time to adjust. According to a royal expert, Meghan is likely still a bit “apprehensive” about her regal fashion choices in the weeks ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. In fact, during her recent royal engagements, Meghan has stuck to wearing neutrals such as black, navy, and white. When she deviates from that color scheme, she opts for green, which seems like more than just a power color for the 36-year-old.

“The green that Megan is favoring is a warm, dark forest green,” Karen Haller, an applied color psychology practitioner, told the Daily Mail. “If she is feeling a bit apprehensive or unsure — and let’s face it, who wouldn’t feel like this joining the royal family and learning all protocol — this specific hue would go some way to providing her with a feeling of safety and reassurance, helping to create a sense of peace and balance.” (For example, you might remember the green, pleated, floral midi dress by Self-Portrait that Meghan wore for the Invictus Games Reception on April 21. That particular number retails for $510 at MyTheresa.com.)

Then again, Meghan’s subdued color palette might just be the calm before the storm, inciting “even more anticipation for the wedding,” as celeb stylist and Lucas Armitage revealed. “It not uncommon for brides-to-be to play things low key in the run-up to the big day,” he added.

Karen Haller and Lucas Armitage aren’t the only image experts scrutinizing Meghan’s appearances, though. Body language guru Elizabeth Kuhnke has said that Meghan shows real chemistry with Harry, a vast improvement over her rapport with ex-husband Trevor Engelson. “Meghan appears happier and freer with Harry than she was with Trevor,” Elizabeth said. “They present a unified front, posing as one, reflecting and matching each other’s facial expressions, movements, and gestures. This behavior indicates they are on the same page and that their relationship is harmonious… Even when they are not touching, their physical proximity and welcoming, open body language shows their closeness.”

Moral of the story? Meghan is tiptoeing into the world of royal fashion, and if her body language with Harry is to be believed, she’ll have many more years of royal engagements with which to make bold style statements!
