He’s getting out of dodge! Meghan Markle‘s ex-husband, Trevor Engelson, is reportedly leaving the country in order to ditch the royal wedding chaos. Talk about a snub! Seeing as the nuptials are sure to have a global impact, his efforts to avoid the details may fall flat, but we can appreciate the effort.

“Trevor is heading out of the country this weekend to escape the mania,” a source revelead to Us Weekly. Citing that the film producer may have set his sights on South America. Despite the 41-year-old’s eagerness to flee all things royal, he happens to have a history with the English monarchy himself. Well, sort of.

According to September 2017 reports, Trevor began work on creating a television series inspired by the royal family. The longline read, “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder. Sharing custody with the British Royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media, is next level.” Though he and Meghan never had children, they were married for two years. So, this very well could have been a reality.

Sadly for Trevor, his relationship with Meghan just wasn’t a good fit. In an excerpt written by famed Princess Diana biographer Andrew Morton, obtained by The Sunday Times, Morton wrote that Meghan was the person who actually wanted to end the marriage and the separation was “totally out of the blue” for Trevor. “[He] went from cherishing Meghan to, as one friend observed, ‘feeling like he was a piece of something stuck to the bottom of her shoe,'” the author explained.

In the end, we’re happy that Meghan has found happiness and Trevor was able to book a flight somewhere far away. Meghan and Harry will marry at 12 p.m. GMT (7 a.m. ET) tomorrow at St. George’s Chapel in front of about 600 well-wishers.
