Many people rush to the alter to marry their beloved after getting engaged, but Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp are in no rush. The When Harry Met Sally… actress downplayed their need to say “I do” so soon in a new interview, explaining that she is simply enjoying her time with the “Jack and Diane” singer.
“Yes, I’m going to get married at some point,” Meg, 57, gushed to InStyle for the mag’s 25th anniversary issue, teasing an eventual wedding with John, 67. “But for now this engagement thing is a state of grace.
Meg confirmed that John had popped the question in November 2018 after the two had kept us all on the edge of our seat because of to their years-long, off-and-on relationship. Soon after, a source exclusively told Closer Weekly the A-listers were “truly happy” together and were “solid” in their relationship.
The pair has seven children in their blended family and their kids — like Teddi Mellencamp and Jack Quaid — couldn’t be more excited about the union. Teddi — a member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — is “thrilled” while Jack — who can be seen on Amazon Prime’s The Boys — said “it’s amazing.”
When Meg and John aren’t spotted on one of their rare outings — usually just strolling along in NYC — they’re spending quality time with their family. While John is still doing music, these days Meg is taking a step back from acting and concentrating on what really matters.
“Now I’m focused on producing. I’m also teeing myself up to direct,” Meg revealed to the outlet. “But most of all, what I’m ambitious for in the 12 hours a day that I’m awake is my kids’ happiness. I just am. I’m either figuring out how to provide for them, figuring out how to say it right, figuring out all those mom things. I want them to be happy. And today I’m happy too.”
We’re so happy for these two!
