Well this is upsetting.
Just days after is was announced the Friends cast will reunite for an upcoming two-hour special honoring famed TV creator James Burrows, Matthew Perry‘s rep has revealed he will not appear with his former costars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc — on the show.
“Regarding Matthew Perry and the James Burrows tribute, Matthew will not be attending, as he is in London in rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing, which begins previews on Feb. 2 at the Playhouse Theatre,” the 46-year-old actor’s rep, Lisa Kasteler, said in a statement.
The Friends cast in June 1994.
“NBC executives were aware of this prior to their Television Critics Association announcement yesterday. Matthew may tape something for the tribute. In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for,” she added to Us Weekly.
The news of a Friends reunion honoring Burrows — who directed 15 episodes of the beloved series, which fan for 10 seasons from 1994 until 2004 — was first announced by NBC on Wednesday, Jan. 13. “I’m hoping all six [stars] will be all in the same room at the same time, but I’m not sure if we can logistically pull that off,” network chairman Bob Greenblatt said of the show, set to air on Sunday, Feb. 21 on NBC.
