Former Today star Matt Lauer has been in the spotlight for months now following his abrupt firing from the morning talk show following sexual harassment accusations. That said, many viewers likely want to know how he broke the unfortunate news to his kids. That's right, Matt is also a dad-of-three, which many people forget since they're very rarely-photographed!
Matt, 60, married his wife, Annette Roque, in 1998, and the duo welcomed three children together: son Jack, 16, on June 26, 2011, daughter Romy on Oct. 2, 2003, and son Thijs, 11, on Nov. 28, 2006. He was married before (to Nancy Alspaugh from 1981 until 1988), but they never had any kids together.

According to reports, Matt fled NYC to go to the Hamptons immediately after his firing to tell his eldest son, Jack, about the incident in person. "Matt’s first thought was that he needed to explain this to his son Jack in person, as it would be far more painful for him to read about it in the press and online,” a source shared in late November. “Matt drove out to Jack’s prep school this morning.”
In a previous interview, Matt joked that he's "not famous at home. I’m just Papa." But that doesn't mean his sons and daughter weren't impressed with his work. "I’m lucky because I actually get to interview most of the people my kids become obsessed with," he said. "I was a very popular dad when Ariana Grande was on the show last summer." After the scandal, Matt's priority today is allegedly his family. “His family is his focus at the moment,” a source told People after his firing. We hope his kids are hanging in there through all of this.
