We hope everything is ok. On Friday, Oct. 27, Matt Damon received the Stanley Kubrick Award for Excellence in Film at the 2017 Britannia Awards, but couldn’t attend the award show because of a family emergency.

“Unfortunately, Matt has urgently needed to travel back to Boston and couldn’t join us tonight. As much as we wish he was here with us, we know family comes first. So our thoughts are with you, Matt and much love from your friends here in LA,” actress Kate Mara — who accepted the award on the actor’s behalf — told the audience.

Shortly after, Matt shared a video message with the crowd. “Hello and thank you to everyone at BAFTA,” he said. “I found out about this award six months ago and I was just so incredibly honored to receive it and I was really looking forward to tonight. Unfortunately, I had to go back to Boston for a family emergency. I’m really sorry not to be with you tonight. Thank you for this wonderful honor and I hope you have a lovely evening. See you soon.”

The Good Will Hunting star didn’t give any details on the emergency, but he and his wife of 12 years, Luciana Barroso, are parents to four daughters, Alexia (Matt’s stepdaughter), 18, Isabella, 11, Gia, 9, and Stella, 7. Since Matt doesn’t have any social media, we also haven’t received any updates via his platforms.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Matt opened up about how much fatherhood has changed him. “I think everything changes in little wonderful ways. My whole life opened up when I became a dad,” he said. “I’m very much on the receiving end of all the good stuff.” Hopefully everything is sorted out, but until we get confirmation, we’re keeping Matt and his family in our thoughts.
