Matt Damon Was ‘Bourne’ to Be a Dad! Meet the Actor’s 4 Daughters With Wife Luciana Barroso

Aside from being one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, Matt Damon also takes pride in being a great dad. Over the years, the Jason Bourne star has made us fall in love with his handsome looks and incredible charm, but nowadays, Matt melts our hearts thanks to his sweet bond with his kids.

The Martian actor is the father of his four daughters, Alexia, Isabella, Gia and Stella, with his longtime wife, Luciana Barroso. Matt experienced fatherhood for the first time when he married the Argentina native in 2005, as he adopted her eldest daughter, Alexia, whom she shares with ex-husband Arbello Barroso. The couple then welcomed their own children together, Isabella, Gia and Stella.

Fatherhood has taught Matt a lot about raising kids, but he’s learned more than he ever imagined as the dad of four daughters. During an interview with Today in 2012, the Good Will Hunting alum said he “never expected to be surrounded” by so many women.

“But it’s great … you never know which way life’s going to take you,” he gushed. “I’m learning so much, not the least of which is how much smarter girls are. I operated under the assumption that us guys had a chance, but I realized when I was completely wrapped around [Stella’s] finger, and she knew it. If they can do that to us [at a young age], when they’re fully grown, we really don’t stand a chance.”

Looking back on his life with his kiddos, Matt compared parenthood to the grumpy character in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas — but in a good way, of course. “In the end when his heart grows five sizes, that’s what [becoming a father] felt like,” he told Today. “It was like everything expanded in a way that I didn’t know was possible. And it was instant.”

It’s pretty obvious that Matt is willing to prioritize his family over everything else in his life, including his Hollywood career. The Oscar winner said he’s managed to juggle his work as an actor and his fatherhood responsibilities because he and Luciana have one important guideline they live by.

“We have a two-week rule in our family, that we’re not apart for more than two weeks,” he said on CBS Sunday Morning in July 2021, noting his latest project, Stillwater, “was the first movie” he was away for more than 14 days. Because being apart from his family was “really tough,” Matt said their rule is “firmly reestablished.” He added, “It’s off the table. We’re never breaking it again.”

Matt revealed in an August 2021 interview with Radio Times how he loves sitting around at home and enjoying TV time with his girls. “I’ve been watching stuff with my kids a lot. What I’m watching depends on which kid I’m with. There’s a 10-year-old and a 12-year-old, and I’m enjoying watching stuff with my 15-year-old daughter right now. [We watch] Chernobyl, which I thought was wonderful.”

“If it’s all of us together, we’ll watch The Office,” he continued, adding that actor John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert on the show, is “a great friend of ours, so that show is a staple.”

“The whole family watched The Crown together. It gave the 10-year-old context – a fun history lesson with the kids,” Matt added.
