Great news! Mark Hamill, can add another iconic role to his already legendary resume, as he recently revealed that he will be voicing the sinister doll Chucky in the upcoming remake of the horror classic Child’s Play.

The 67-year-old took to Instagram on Saturday, March 30, to share the unexpected news with his millions of followers and fans at WonderCon in Anaheim, California, and around the world. “If you’re wondering who’s going to play Chucky in the new Child’s Play, you’re looking at him,” the Star Wars actor said.

He continued, “I can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life and present him in a way you’ve never seen him before.” He added, “We’re gonna have some fun.” Take a look at his announcement below!

People were of course loving the news, as they quickly responded. “Dude, that’s FIRE man. Can’t wait until child’s play comes out in theaters!! Hamill will nail it! ” one user said, with another adding, “I’m terrified of Chucky and now I have no choice but to watch it.” One fan chimed in with, “From Skywalker to The Joker to Skips … now Chucky, people. This is going to be Iconic!!!!”

Mark is no stranger to voicing characters, as he’s been doing it for quite some time, most notably playing the role of The Joker for three years in Batman: The Animated Series in the early ’90s. He also voiced characters in other TV shows including Avengers AssembleScooby-Doo and Guess Who? and Transformer: Power of the Primes.

Mark will join a cast that includes Aubrey PlazaGabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry, in a remake that comes out more than 30 years since the original. The horror film will be here in time for the summer season, as it is set to be released in theaters on June 21, 2019.
