Even after more than 21 years of marriage, Mark Consuelos is still head-over-heels in love with his wife, Kelly Ripa, and will do anything to protect and defend her. The proud husband took to Instagram on Monday, March 26 to share a “sultry” snap of Kelly rocking a bikini, and while most would agree that the 47-year-old looks amazing, some haters took to the comments section to body shame the television personality for rocking a bikini at her age. Check out the video above to see Mark’s cute post about his wife’s bikini bod!
So now, Kelly is taking to her Instagram story to show those body-shamers what it really takes to have a body like hers — and let’s just say it doesn’t look easy! In the series of clips posted on Thursday, March 29, Kelly was wearing just a sports bra, workout pants, and sneakers while she got a sweat in alongside her handsome hubby.
Each clip showed her trying to run really fast while Mark holds the resistance band around her waist. She joked in the video: “Actual speed.” But after a few videos, Kelly apparently became more comfortable with the workout. “Nailed it,” she captioned another clip. And then the tables turned, and it was Mark’s turn to try to accomplish what his wife was so successfully. “Running of the bulls,” Kelly captioned the video of her hubby (or shall we say workout buddy?).
Their intense workout session (who could hate on that?) comes just a few days after the dad-of-three slammed haters on Instagram after they made fun of Kelly’s bikini body. “I wanted to take a couple of days to weigh in. Probably should’ve earlier, arguably. But I wanted to be above it. Well, not I’m not. I posted this pic of the women I most admire, as a playful tribute to my wife who I’m proud of in endless ways,” Mark began in the comments section of the post.
“She works extremely hard in her professional life and her commitment to exercise, [and a] healthy diet is admirable and the benefits show,” he continued in the lengthy comment. “Yes, she’s wearing a bikini at age 47 and will no doubt wear one for many years to come. If that offends you in some way, if it triggers you, or some other psychosis you’re suffering from, I suggest you get over it and get used to it. To all the males who had something negative to say… I suggest you bring it up with me if ever I’m lucky enough to run into you. I’m going to get back to my vacation now… thanks for allowing me to express myself.”
Fans then took to the comments section to praise Mark for his powerful words and to gush about his love for Kelly. Many others even defended Kelly’s right to wear a bikini as well. “You’re a great husband with an incredibly beautiful, talented wife! Please ignore the [haters] because you have so many people who like you both so much! I personally loved the pictures and videos you both posted, and I showed them to my husband. We both wish you, your wife, and family a wonderful vacation,” one person wrote. “She is beautiful! No matter what age… no matter what her physical appearance is like… her kind heart outshines it all!” another fan added.
And it appears Kelly is so appreciative of her husband as well. She extended her thanks by giving her hubby a sweet birthday shout-out via Instagram on Friday, March 30. The TV host took to the social media platform to post a video of throwback photos with the song “My Heart Belongs to You Daddy” by Marilyn Monroe playing in the background. “Happy birthday @instasuelos you put the D in #daddy. Loved by all, especially me!” she wrote. How sweet!
Kelly and Mark first met back in the mid-1990s on the hit daytime soap opera All My Children. Kelly portrayed series regular Hayley Vaughan and Mark played Mateo Santos. They tied the knot back on May 1, 1996, just one year after meeting. And after more than two decades of marriage, their love is stronger than ever. Nowadays, Kelly and Mark juggle parenting three kids: 20-year-old son Michael, 16-year-old daughter Lola, and 15-year-old son Joaquin.
“We’re very lucky that we found each other, that’s what I have to say. I would say to Mark, ‘Who would we have married if not each other,'” Kelly once gushed about her husband. “There’s going to be times where you look at each other like ‘I can’t believe I live with you.'” But the pair have been able to weather any troubles thrown at their strong marriage. “That’s what you want in life, to have a good companion, somebody that loves you, that listens to you and is your equal in every way,” she continued.
